Moving And Shaking

For the faithful who have read my past news, you’ll notice that I deleted the old stuff figuring no one cares about that history.  As someone who looks forward because yesterday is fading from my memory bank, that makes the only sense.

Oh yes, its been way too long since I’ve bored folks with what’s been going on in my writing life, but before I get into that, I have some personal stuff I feel I need to share as partial explanation for the lengthy silence.  I’ve been busy writing, whew have I!  But that has pretty much sucked my time and creativity and here’s why.  Some two and a half years ago I started feeling pain in my legs, most of it in my left thigh.  That confused me because I’d gotten some work done on my back and that was feeling much better.  I should be fixed, right?  Not right.  Under duress and suspicious, I went to an arthritus specialist who told it was bone on bone on both hips.  Say what?  Then why was my thigh hurting?  Cause my brain couldn’t figure out what my body was trying to tell me.  Well, surprise, surprise, my then insurance wouldn’t come within a continent of paying for two surgeries so the waiting game began.  Fast forward, on Feb. 9, I had a bionic left hip inserted followed by a like one in the right on April 6.  I won’t bore folks with the recovery nonsense except to say I RECOMMEND IT WHOLEHEARTEDLY.  Life changing.  End of pain, sleepless nights, brain fogged by drugs, walking like a duck, unable to make it more than a few feet, etc.

Although I’m bound to set off airport security alarms, I’m a new woman!  A woman writing for the love of it, something I’d nearly lost when my sad body got in the way.

The specifics are I have a three book contract to do more stand alone books for Kensington Aphrodisia, yeah!  In the current economy, Kensington brass has decided to cut back releases from 4 to 2 Aphrodisia a month which means my releases will be stretched out and I’ll have longer between deadlines.

To keep myself busy and happy, I’ve launched what I hope will be a series for Loose-ID revolving around a paranormal wolf and the lives his restless spirit touches.  I just got the cover for Storm Howl (wow, hot!) and thanks to my editor’s right on suggestions, am close to submitting the next called Wind Howl.  #3 is nibbling at my brain and insisting on a plot to go with my complex heroine.

I continue to write for Ellora’s Cave, my first erotica publisher and just learned that Under His Thumb will be released in June, not Nov.  Yeah!  I’ve started another novella for EC (yep, my fav submission theme) and hope to get back to it before the end of the week.

Then there’s the non-erotic part of my brain that found its way back from hybernation. So far all I have are pages of notes on two very different stories, one a romantic suspense/thriller, the other a moody-broody straight romance.

And on that note, I’ll let everyone go back to their regularly scheduled program.
